Whether drizzled over hot, buttered toast or giving a gorgeous glaze to chicken, fragrant honey is terrific for both savoury and sweet dishes.
Lorna Wing shows us how…
Spread softened butter on toast, sprinkle with brown sugar and grill until golden. Top with sliced bananas, drizzle with honey and a light dusting of cinnamon for a super-easy snack.
Beat some honey into double its amount of softened butter to make honey butter for crumpets, toast or to serve with a slice of gingerbread.
Add a couple of tablespoons of mango or tomato chutney to honey butter (see above) to use for brushing over chicken thighs before roasting or barbecuing.
Gently toast some rolled oats, seeds and chopped nuts in a non-stick frying pan until golden. Add enough honey to moisten, then toast again. Remove, stir in your favourite dried fruits to make a quick breakfast granola, a topping for stewed apples or for ice cream.
